What a family story! Our website tells how Mathieson Avenue in Khandallah in Wellington got its name. The subdivision was developed by a decorated New Zealand navy veteran of WW2 called Jim Macdonald, who had married Evelyn Mathieson in the UK before returning to New Zealand.
Jim Macdonald’s godson, Christopher John Weeden, writes from France to try and connect with members of the Macdonald/Mathieson family. He tells the story of Jim Macdonald rescuing the crew of a motor torpedo boat during fighting in 1942, the commander of the crew being Christopher’s father.
If you can help Christopher, please leave a comment on the page linked to or email web@clanmatheson.org.nz
